CAREER HISTORY

September 2011 to date – GAP Solar and Armada Industries, Machine operator / Labourer
During this period I focused on a career change learning new skills as a telehandler operator, forward tipping dumper operator, site carpenter and forklift driver on various projects. I also studied part time through the Open University.

June 2010 to September 2011 – Depot General Manager, Home Delivery Network/YODEL, South Wales
Responsible for expenditure budget (£8m) with a focus on achieving flexible unit cost performance utilising forecasting and resource planning models. Standard structure of 70 routes increasing to 160 routes during pressure periods. Also responsible for business compliance, customer service, Industrial relations and revenue performance. Managed major change program closing a Cardiff site and restructuring DHL site into YODEL operation.

March 2010 to June 2010 – Distribution Centre General Manager, Taylors Foods, South Wales
Responsible for all areas of cost, productivity, customer service and supplier relationships supplying local Welsh produce to supermarkets and independent retailers throughout Wales. My role also focused on the expansion of the business through year on year growth of around 20%.

July 2009 to March 2010 – Logistics Consultant, British Foods Direct, South Wales
Set-up and implementation of a global online supermarket specialising in the supply of British branded foods and household goods. This involved the development and design support of the website and sub-systems as a well as negotiating logistics routes and costs. Product offering and sourcing also formed a key part of the role.

May 1999 to July 2009 – Depot Manager, Parcelforce Worldwide
Position held at several sites Newport, Pontypridd, Swansea and Bristol. Responsibilities included transport, deliver and collection performance, productivity, resource planning and health and safety. During this period, I also held a secondment position as Area Operations Manager on several occasions. Responsible for all areas of profit and loss (expenditure £6m, revenue £7.9m), customer service and operations at one of the largest parcel delivery depots in the express parcel network.

March 1998 to May 1999 – Depot Manager, Business Post, Newport
Responsible for the set-up and development of the franchise operation including staff recruitment, training, cost control and service quality.

January 1997 to March 1998 – Operations Agent, DHL Worldwide Express, Newport
Responsible for providing customer service to UK customers and liaising with international partners. Also responsible for delivery quality, customer contact strategy, transport and health and safety.

September 1994 to January 1997 – Depot Shift Manager, TNT UK Limited, London
Responsible for shift operations for a fleet of 25 vehicles managing delivery and collection performance, service quality, unit cost control and health and safety.
